Snapshots

A few pictures from Paris so far.

Unfortunately my much loved (and also much abused) camera finally gave out a couple of months after I moved here. Not only did I lose all my pictures, I now have had to make do with my iPhone 3G camera.

I would like to warn everyone now that I am a shocking photographer (my little sister isn't though - check out her tumblr feed: http://ella-jaywork.tumblr.com) so almost all of my shots are done using Instagram/Hipstamatic etc, in the hope of turning out something vaguely interesting to look at.

This is also why until I learn to take a decent picture - I am planning on bribing said younger sister to give me some lessons this summer - most posts will not include photographs that I have taken.

INSPIRATION: The Smarteez from Soweto

An article about the Smarteez was featured in the jan/feb 2012 edition of l'Officiel. I love their crazy DIY style - I wish I was as good at putting outfits together as these guys!

Both of my parents are South African and most of my extended family live there. It is the country that I have visited the most times in my life (6 altogether, I think). It's great to see some brilliant fashion coming from one of my favourite places in the world (finally!).

Mary Katrantzou for Topshop

This is probably the first time that I have actually been excited about a celebrity designer collection for a high street brand. I have been hearing about Mary Katrantzou's collection for Topshop for months now, and finally the first images have been released. Top of my list is this silk shift dress.
